I use this to turn on, and off, a cooler in a car. It is connected to the 12 volt system which powers it and the cooler. It quickly connects to the network and has worked flawlessly so far. Something not mentioned in the product description when I bought it is that it also has an app on Google Play (GSM Gate Opener RU5024). The app also uses SMS commands, but it does simplify configuration so that was a nice surprise. Note! There is no way to enter a PIN code to unlock the SIM card. This might be an issue for some. I solved this by putting my prepaid SIM card in a Samsung phone and used that to unlock and then turn off the PIN on my SIM card.
